Biography
Mariam Vardzelashvili is a Viennese pianist originally from Tbilisi, Georgia. Mariam’s performance style is a unique blend of musical and cultural influences from Georgia, the US, France, and Austria, characterized by controlled passion and wild honesty. She has a special affinity for the legendary Viennese composers as well as for works by contemporary composers.
Mariam is an active soloist and passionate chamber musician, praised for her ability to connect with international audiences in a wide variety of concert settings, from the largest and most prestigious halls to intimate house concerts and charity performances in hospitals and schools.
Mariam has performed in more than 35 countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Africa. Her commitment to chamber music is reflected in various ensembles under the umbrella of Immersio Vienna (formerly Trio Immersio), ranging from duo to quintet, with a focus on piano trio.
Mariam has performed at renowned venues such as the Vienna Musikverein, Vienna Konzerthaus, RadioKulturhaus Vienna, Flagey in Brussels, the Royal Danish Opera, concert halls in Changsha, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou (China), Teatru Manoel in Malta, the Johannesburg Music Society in South Africa, Théâtre Sorano in Dakar, CRR Konser Salonu in Istanbul, Schönberg Center, the ancient amphitheater in Bodrum, Kyiv Philharmonic, Tbilisi State Conservatory, and numerous festivals such as the “Soirées du Castellet” (France), Palermo Classica (Sicily), the Haydn Festival (Austria), Les Musicales du Luberon (France), the moz.Art Festival (Austria), Il Circolo di Ave (Italy), the Carthage Festival (Tunisia), the 30th Festival de Morelia (Mexico), the Istanbul Music Festival, the Austrian Spring (Poland), and many more. Mariam has collaborated with legendary composers such as W. Rihm, J. Widmann, J.M. Staud, D. Fujikura, and B. Gander, and has performed over 50 world premieres and commissioned works.
Mariam can be heard on five commercially released CDs, including Schubert Album with Trio Immersio for DaVinci Publishing, #onthemove with Ukrainian violinist Vira Zhuk, and 3 with Trio Immersio. In fall 2026, a recording of the complete chamber music works of first female Ukrainian composer, Stefania Turkevych, will be released on the German label ‘Classic Produktion Osnabrück’ (CPO), recorded with Immersio Vienna at the A. Schönberg Centre.
Highlights of her 2025 season include concert tours of China, residency at the Sounds of Now Festival in Vienna and start of Immersio Academy in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Mariam is as an active soloist and passionate chamber musician, praised for establishing intimate connection with international audiences in various concert environments, from biggest and most prestigious halls to cosy house concerts, to outreach and charity performances in hospitals and schools.
Mariam has performed in more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Africa. Highlights of her 2020 include concert tours in South Africa and China and a residence at the Iceberg Institite in Vienna.
Her dedication to chamber music is highlighted in two significant projects, famous piano Trio Immersio and piano/violin duo with the untamed Ukrainian violinist Vira Zhuk.
Mariam has performed in prestigious venues such as the Musikverein Wien, Flagey in Brussels, Danish National Opera, Kyiv Philharmonie, CRR Concer Salonu in Istanbul, Konzerthaus Wien, Teatru Manoel in Malta, Grand Hall of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire and many others. She has been a guest of numerous festivals all over the globe, including Morelia Festival in Mexico, Catthage Festival in Tunisia, Istanbul Festival in Turkey, Durtal Festival in France, Tarapaca Musica Fest in Chile and the Gulf Stream Festival in Kyiv.
Mariam has worked with legendary composers such as W. Rihm, J. Widmann, J.M. Staud and B. Gander, and played a significant number of world premieres and commissions.
